Facility and Grounds Custodian
Facility and Grounds Custodian  Report To: Supervisor of Facilities and Security Employment Classification: Non-Exempt (Part-time) Pay Scale: $16.50-17.00/hour Job Overview: The Facility and Grounds Custodian plays a vital role in setting a standard of excellence and elevating our visitor experience. This person is responsible for maintaining the upkeep of 110,000 sqft of facilities, exterior grounds, monitoring the proper operation of mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment, and replacing and/or repairing fixtures.  At Desert Vineyard (DV) we recognize that every staff person's job responsibilities are not only functional but also relational. Key Responsibilities
  • Sanitizing restrooms: toilets, sinks, floors and walls.
  • Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and shampooing floors.
  • Cleaning windows, building fixtures, ceiling, walls and furniture.
  • Disposing and picking up trash and emptying trash receptacles.
  • Picking up and removing trash, debris, discarded furniture and other unwarranted waste from grounds.
  • Setup and breakdown rooms for meetings, gatherings and events.
  • Dust and polish furniture, walls, woodwork and window seals.
  • Maintains restroom toiletries, paper towels and soap dispensers.
  • Pressure washing sidewalks, parking lots and outdoor furniture.
  • Setting traps and keeping facilities free of indoor pests.
  • Operating power equipment: forklifts, lawn tools, pallet jacks, lifts, etc.
  • Moving trash dumpsters on church property as needed.
  • Assist security team in locking and unlocking facilities.
  • Clean and maintain outdoor fountain.
  • Assist with replacing light bulbs, fluorescent ballasts, filters and bathroom fixtures.
  • May remove snow/ice from parking lots, walkways and entrances/exits.
  • May perform basic repairs on plumbing maintenance, doors, furniture and other equipment.
  • May paint interior and exterior surfaces. 
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, tools and other necessary materials to perform essential job functions.
  • Collaborate with contract janitorial service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Ability to perform physical and demanding tasks: lift up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, bend, climb up/down ladders, and perform repetitive motions for long periods. 
  • Attention to detail, cleaning, and maintenance is crucial.
  • Reliable, dependable and punctual.
  • Strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to handle minor maintenance tasks: plumbing, drilling, hanging fixtures, minor repairs, etc.
  • Reliable transportation and valid drivers license 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, nights, weekends and/or off days. 
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions, both written and verbal, and to communicate with staff and supervisor.

Facilities Supervisor
Report To: Executive Pastor Employment Classification: Non-Exempt (Full-time) Pay Scale: $22.60 - $ 25.00 per hour (Annualized $47,000 - $52,000) Job Overview: Desert Vineyard Church is a multi-generational and multi-cultural community of faith located on 10 acres in the northern section of the County of Los Angeles in Lancaster CA. The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operations of 100,000 sq ft of facilities, including 28 HVAC units, plumbing, and electrical apparatus, across four buildings. The responsibilities of the Facilities Supervisor include managing the Facility Team, Security and Safety Teams, and janitorial and landscaping contractors. This position ensures that the interior and exterior spaces are consistently clean, safe, and fully prepared for Sunday and Wednesday experiences, memorials, weddings, and other special events. The Facilities Supervisor will also manage maintenance and repairs, ensure the proper operation of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and coordinate with contractors when needed.

Key Responsibilities Facilities: 
  • Oversee janitorial and landscaping contractors to ensure cleanliness and excellence across all grounds and facilities, and to uphold all terms of service contracts.
  • Perform and/or manage all facility maintenance and repairs (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, custodial, waste management, etc.).
  • Supervise and schedule the Facilities Team to ensure timely room setup/breakdown, property upkeep, and responsiveness to maintenance needs.
  • Every staff member is expected to engage with congregants, encouraging and equipping them to serve within the church. In this role, the staff member will specifically identify, recruit, and organize volunteers to use their skills in maintaining, improving, and beautifying the church campus—ensuring that the facilities reflect the care and excellence of our community. 
  • Yoke with the Office Coordinator to develop and maintain a reliable process for room assignments, setups, AV equipment, and other event support through the Planning Center.
  • Order and manage cleaning supplies, replacement parts, and maintenance materials inventory within budget.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and work a flexible schedule for facility-related emergencies, including occasional evenings and/or weekends.
  • Interface with vendors and contractors for services and repairs involving plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, and other equipment.
  • Create and manage an “Out of Service” and “Service Request” reporting system for staff to request timely maintenance support.
  • Manage the facilities budget, approve related purchases, and process invoices.
  • Yoke with the Executive Pastor to report on facility projects—budgeted and unbudgeted—and contribute to annual planning and budgeting processes.
  • Initiate, Empower, and Send a volunteer Facilities Team to assist with special projects (painting, cleanup days, minor repairs, etc.).
  • Yoke with the IT Manager to uphold the church’s contract and service quality with Frontier Communications and other facility-related vendors.
  • Develop and maintain a proactive maintenance schedule for all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Security and Safety Oversight: 
  • Supervise the Security and Safety Teams to ensure a visible and effective presence during services, meetings, and events.
  • Interface with alarm service providers to troubleshoot and resolve security system issues.
  • Ensure all cameras, alarm systems, and related equipment are functioning at all times; schedule repairs as needed to minimize vulnerability.
  • Oversee the distribution and management of keys, access cards, and entry codes for staff and essential volunteers.
  • Yoke with the Business Administrator to ensure full compliance with the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP) and Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP).
  • Collaborate with the Security Team to develop and implement threat prevention protocols, including active shooter and de-escalation plans.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Working knowledge of facility maintenance practices, construction methods, and repair protocols.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including after hours, off days, and weekends if necessary. 
  • Skilled in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general facility care.
  • Familiarity with facility security and safety protocols.
  • Basic computer skills for communication, scheduling, and documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experienced in managing projects, budgets, vendors, and contracts to ensure operational efficiency and responsible stewardship of congregational generosity.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing needs in a growing ministry environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative, a strong work ethic, and the ability to lead with humility.

Kids Pastor/Director

Job Overview: The Kids Pastor/Director will provide vision and direction for both Children’s and Youth Ministries (DV Kids and DV Youth). Family Life at Desert Vineyard encompasses key moments and milestones that families experience from birth through high school. It’s about seeing, supporting, walking alongside, and celebrating with families in those meaningful seasons.

This position primarily involves direct leadership and strategic oversight of the DV Kids, while also providing leadership and guidance to the Youth Pastor/Director. The role emphasizes collaborating and partnering with the Youth Pastor to facilitate a smooth transition from DV Kids to DV Youth; and cultivating strong, trusting relationships with parents/guardians who have children in both ministries.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic goals and objectives for DV Kids in alignment with the church’s vision, mission, and rhythm.
  • Initiate, empower, and send volunteers to serve in DV Kids, equipping them to use curriculum and resources to lead kids into authentic encounters with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
  • Foster an environment of surrender where students can experience the freedom found in Christ.
  • Organize and provide tools, equipment, and resources for Staff and volunteers to create engaging, creative, and fun ministry culture and experiences.
  • Oversee staff and volunteer assignment schedules.
  • Support and encourage a culture amongst staff and volunteers of ever-increasing excellence.
  • Oversee ministry to children and families with special needs.
  • Nurture clear communication among parents, volunteer teams, and children.
  • Develop a system for parents to serve in Desert Vineyard Kids 2–4 times per year.
  • Celebrate the culmination of curriculum themes with some type of fun activity parent(s) can participate with their child to complete that reinforces and/or reflects the objective(s).
  • Create a periodic DV Kids’ Newsletter that informs parent(s) of success stories of what kids are learning, doing to demonstrate learning, and the positive impact of DV Kids. 
  • Screen and train volunteers/staff to ensure compliance with church policies, California Child Protection, and Mandated Reporter laws.
  • Oversee the provision of quality care to children, ensuring the adult-to-child ratio is met and guidelines for care are appropriate.
  • Maintain and implement best practices for safety and security during all DV Kids activities and events, both onsite and offsite.
  • Investigate any complaints regarding DV Kids or DV Youth staff/volunteers.
  • Partner with the Youth Pastor to facilitate the transition of children from elementary to middle school.
  • Collaborate with the Youth Pastor to engage families who have children in both ministries.
  • Collaborate with the Youth Pastor to develop joint initiatives that foster synergy between DV Kids and DV Youth.
  • Organize special events for children and assist in supporting churchwide events that involve children and families.
  • Oversee and administrate the annual budget and accurate expense reporting, making financial decisions for DV Kids Ministry.
  • Perform or coordinate general pastoral responsibilities, such as child baptisms, child dedications, hospital visitations, and provide shepherding care for families in crisis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of 5 years of pastoral and/or director experience in Children’s and/or Youth Ministry leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in ministry or a related field (e.g., childhood development).
  • Proficiency in Google Suites and Planning Center.
  • Proven ability to recruit, develop, and retain strong volunteer teams.
  • Experience developing and executing holistic Family Ministry strategies.
  • Demonstrated collaboration across ministry teams and staff.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for teaching, engaging with families and staff, and inviting the broader community into the life of the ministry.
  • Conflict resolution skills to navigate and resolve issues among children, volunteers, parents, and staff with grace and understanding.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • A growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a consistent commitment to spiritual formation.
  • Ability to teach and communicate biblical truths effectively.
