Security Director

Position Overview

Title: Security Director
Reporting Relationship: Executive Pastor
Classification: Non-exempt, Full-time

This position oversees Desert Vineyard Campus Safety & Security programs and includes administrative duties, patrol duties, and oversight of a volunteer team. Involves working during church services and special events, includes weekends and some evenings. The heart of this job is creating and maintaining a culture and systems of safety, security and care for people and property at the church and school campus.

  • Oversees, develops and implements security programs to guard against theft, vandalism, violence or other threats against campus, visitors, volunteers and staff.
  • Documents and notifies management and appropriate agencies of incidents and emergency situations.
  • Provides crisis intervention as needed.
  • Patrols church and school campus.
  • Oversees parking lot and traffic control.
  • Oversees internal and external emergency preparedness drills.
  • Liaises with local, state and federal law enforcement and security agencies as needed.
  • Monitors and maintains all doors, locks, keys, surveillance cameras, radios and security technology systems.
  • Conducts risk and vulnerability assessments and formulates recommendations for management.
  • Recruits, develops and manages a volunteer team.
  • Works closely with facilities staff regarding campus safety and security.
  • Documents maintenance issues and reports to Facilities Manager.
  • Manages budget and expense reporting.
  • Creates a culture of care and safety for visitors, members and staff.
  • Performs other duties as needed.



  • Strong relational and communication skills to work well with visitors, members, volunteers, staff, and outside agencies.
  • Strong organizational skills and leadership gifts.
  • Love for people.
  • Ability to recruit, develop, and lead volunteer teams.
  • Ability to use technology.
  • Self-starter—able to work independently.


Education and Experience:

  • 3+ years security experience desired.
  • 3+ years leading or managing people desired.
  • Guard Card or equivalent training desired.
