Spiritual Care Request

Spiritual Care at Desert Vineyard Church  is a ministry which provides individuals an opportunity to sit with a leader who is specifically trained to listen and pray with you. If you find yourself in a difficult season or situation, we want to be a place of safety where you can share and grow, one-on-one, in a non-clinical environment. This is a free, short term service where we hope you can receive further healing and grow a deeper connection with Jesus.

You can expect the following from your spiritual caregiver:
  • Attentive listening
  • Holy Spirit lead supportive encouragement
  • Compassionate care
  • Biblically based counsel

Your spiritual caregiver will not provide the following:
  • Professional counseling
  • Psychotherapy
  • A diagnosis of a mental or emotional disorder

If the pastoral team deems spiritual caregiver is appropriate for you at this time, please commit to the following:
  • Keep your scheduled spiritual caregiver appointments and give your spiritual caregiver sufficient notice of a cancellation (24 hours).
  • Follow through with assigned homework and/or readings assigned by your spiritual caregiver.
  • Remain open to what God is speaking to you in this process.

Please know that we respect your privacy and confidentiality. However, if the spiritual caregiver becomes aware of any of the following situations, further steps will be taken*:
  • If a person receiving spiritual care  discloses the intention to take harmful, dangerous, or criminal action against another human being or against him or herself, the spiritual caregiver is required to inform all appropriate parties (emergency services, enforcement officials, child protective services, the church, family of counselee, etc.)
  • Suspected acts of child abuse or neglect on the behalf of the person receiving spiritual care will be reported to the proper authorities.
  • All spiritual caregivers reserve the right to discuss matters disclosed by those receiving spiritual care for the purpose of receiving supervision, counsel and oversight themselves. Those matters will be discussed with the Care staff.

*Spiritual caregivers will report any of the following to the Pastoral Care team. The Care Pastor or Director of Spiritual Care and Formation will be the mandated reporter, as noted in the Consent and Release Form.

If you would like to apply to receive spiritual care, please fill out--in its entirety--this form. Upon receiving and reviewing your application, the  Director of Spiritual Care & Formation will contact you for an intake appointment at the Desert Vineyard Office. The time from receiving your application to the intake interview to your placement with a spiritual caregiver can take between 3-4 weeks.
